Japanese Knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum), root dried extract, min 50% resveratrol

Details

Resveratrol Plus by Seeking Health provides a concentrated source of resveratrol from Japanese knotweed root.

Resveratrol is a polyphenol, a natural plant compound with valuable antioxidant activity and other important biochemical functions.* Resveratrol is present in a wide variety of plants such as grapes, peanuts, blueberries, and bilberries. One of the most well-known dietary sources of resveratrol is wine, especially red wine. However, the resveratrol content in wines can vary considerably based on the grape type, geographic origin, fermentation process, and other factors.*

Red wine extracts available for use in dietary supplements typically provide up to 20% resveratrol content. In contrast, root extracts of Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum) provide up to 50% trans-resveratrol content, the same form found in red wine. Trans-resveratrol appears to be the primary active form of this polyphenolic compound and is thus the main form utilized in clinical studies. Resveratrol Plus provides 250 mg of trans-resveratrol per vegetarian capsule.*

Resveratrol may help support the body’s defenses against free radicals and other oxidants such as superoxide radicals, hydrogen peroxide, singlet oxygen, and organic radicals. Free radicals are thought to be a cause of oxidative cell damage, such as that associated with aging. In addition to supporting antioxidant defences, resveratrol may have beneficial and protective effects on cellular health and cardiovascular tissues. Resveratrol may also help support the body’s healthy inflammation responses.*
